Red Beans and Rice

No matter how you make it, Red Beans and Rice will always be a Southern tradition. That same tradition is alive and well, not only in the Polk's family, but also in the products they produce. Here is our spin on this Southern classic.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of Polk's Cajun Smoked Sausage
  • 1 12 oz. bag of Camellia red beans
  • 1 onion
  • chili powder
  • red pepper
  • garlic salt
  • 3 cups of rice

Directions

Add red beans to water and bring to a boil. Chop onion and add. Add chili powder, red pepper and garlic salt to taste. Cover container and simmer for at least 3 hours. Cut the Polk's Cajun Smoked Sausage into 3 inch slices and add. Cover and cook slowly for an additional hour or until ready. Continually add water and seasonings throughout cooking process. In a separate container, boil the rice for 15 to 20 minutes. Once complete, serve and enjoy!
