New CEO Named at Polk’s Meat Products, Inc
Magee, Mississippi meat processor, Polk’s Meat Products, Inc., has a new Chief Executive Officer. Julie P. Breazeale has been named CEO according to Chairman of the Board, John Polk. The appointment became effective January 1.
Polk stated, “The board and family members who are owners of the corporation felt the time was right to see the third generation of our family begin operational control of the company”.
Breazeale has been employed at Polk’s since 2000. She has had several positions at the company including Scheduling/Production Coordinator and Plant Manager. Polk is currently Vice-President/General Manager.
The new CEO is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi having received both her Bachelor of Science and MBA degrees from the Hattiesburg University.
In speaking of her vision for the future of the Magee company, Breazeale said, “"Looking ahead, I want to see us become the regions premier meat processor. Being the best doesn't mean you have to be the biggest, but it does mean being the best in terms of consumer satisfaction, customer service and employee talent all while continuing consistent and predictable growth. I feel we have made great strides in this direction, but there is more to be done to fully achieve this."
In other appointments by the board of directors, Bill Whittington was named Chief Operating Officer. Whittington a graduate of Mississippi State University has been with the company since 1983 and will be responsible for all aspects of the operation of the company.
Polk’s Meats, founded by Milton and Myrt Polk on their family farm in 1969, is the largest privately held meat processor in Mississippi. The company employs approximately 115 full time employees. Its products are sold in 12 states throughout the Southeast and the Midwest.
Racing Vehicle Extravaganza
Polk's Meat will be sampling some of their delicious sausage at the Racing Vehicle Extravaganza the weekend of January 7th and 8th at the MS Trademart on the fairgrounds. The concession stand will also be selling our Smokin Cajun Degaty Dog which made it's debut at Talladega this October. We are also giving away turkeys. If you bring a $10 donation to Blair E.
